Purple Rain Is 30 Years Old?? I Am No Longer A Young Man

30 years ago I was working at Cadet Camp as an instructor. For the staff air guitar contest we did 'Little Red Corvette' by Prince. I love the way we were able to put together some cool outfits and worked out great choreography. We won a huge bottle of Drambuie and drank flaming Drambuie's all night.

Good Times

I'm a fair-weather Prince fan, awesomely talented, but not a big fan.

Loved 'Purple Rain' for what it's intended purpose was, and featured great music by both the star and Morris Day

And ok, Apollonia was.., scrumptious. BEST part by far.

For what it was, it's terrific at capturing a time and place. It doesn't hold up very well because Prince is a goof. Dave Chapelle does some great Prince spoofs. Look up Charlie Murphy's Hollywood Stories.

Oh and Apollonia was the bomb. I loved that big hair.

OK, the movie is 80s cheese at its worst ( apart from Apollonia, obviously ) but the soundtrack...
The Purple Rain album was the first Prince record I ever bought and I loved it! My friend Paul and I were obsessed with it and played it to death at the time. There are just so many fantastic songs on that record and the singing, playing and production are wonderfully over the top and exuberant. I might just have to dig out my vinyl copy and give it a blast...
And, no, I really can't believe it's 30 years old...
