Childhood Heroes

The GIANT and the SUPERFLY.

There was nothing cooler than watching wrestling with my Baba (grandmother). She could not be convinced that it was anything but completely REAL. A battle of titans for the fate of the planets. I miss her.

I remember seeing Superfly and Koko B. Ware at wrestling matching here in Kentucky before they got big with the WWF. That seems so long ago now.

I knew some old dudes who were convinced it was real as well.

Back in the '60s, wrestling used to come to Tucson about twice a month. Three friends and I were literally assaulted by other 'patrons' 'cause we were cheering for the 'bad' wrestlers.
(the Dupree Brothers). We had to be escorted out by the local sheriffs. All in all, it was a pretty eventful evening. Fun was had by all.
