Part General, Part Doorman, All Goober

True. Gooberness reigns supreme in today's world.

I've been thinking that the western world (or just the US,really) needs to let Muslim/Asian/African countries to develop and build each of their civilisations in their own time. Things like democracy, secularism, and gender equality need to grow within society organically. How long did it take for the western world to develop these, weeks? You can't bully people into accepting your ideals, even if they are noble and just.

But these are just my crazy opinions anyway. =)

America really needs to understand the fine distiction between the exceptional nature of their IDEAS and how exceptional they think they are. Their brand of 'democracy at the point of a gun' didn't work in Iraq and it's the last thing we need in Africa.

Thank the gods there is an Obama in the White House and not a George Bush or all of this 'readjusting' would be turned into one big clusterfuck.

Let the Arab people find their voice. Like most people on this planet they are good and decent and will find their way. It's all the assholes who oppress them and us that don't get it.

Thanks for your opinion Al. You made a lot of sense.

I hear his latest crazy demand is to have Justin Bieber play him in a biopic...ok i made that up but you never know!

Thank you,Kal. I feel people shouldn't be too judgmental of developing countries,no matter how backwards they seem. My fear is that all this political bullying and war mongering is actually going to set back the Muslim world, and delay progress from happening. All this chaos and hate doesn't actually help people to think about life.

Another of my (possibly irrational) fears is that the Palestinians are going to be extinct if the world simply lets things be the way they are right now. I know people don't want to upset the Jews, I get it. I love almost all the Jewish actors in Hollywood (Jason Segel,Diana Agron are my current fav's,as I love their tv series'). This doesn't mean we have to be okay with Israel's treatment of Palestinians though. I have never met a Palestinian or an Israeli, but isn't this basic human rights logic?

*sigh* Whatever the solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, the cynical side of me gives the Palestinians no more than 50 years left before they get wiped out. Sorry for my depressing views. What do you think,am I being crazy?

i wore something similar for my first communion.

true story.

So you were a flashy girl even as a child, Lana? Did you have the dust mops on your shoulders too? Because that just classes up the look to the 'nth' degree.

I have many issues with the hypocracy of Israel and they often get cut more slack than they deserve. They are the ones who have forced me to my postion that a 'two state' solution is the only solution to the crisis amoung the Palestinian people. But I also have much blame to place on the rich Arab nations who leave the Palestinians in poverty and oppression because it makes Israel look bad and takes notice off the way the rich asshole princes treat their own people. I favor green technologies because of the evils that are connected to the use of it be they environmental or political. I hope that once the Arab countries get rid of their oppressors, that Israel will make resonable concessions to the Palestinians to avoid the crisis that will occur if they don't.

Oh and Drake - that wouldn't surprise me ONE BIT. Just look at that uniform. He can't even dress himself properly.

"Goober" is a pretty gentle term for a mass murdering terrorist maniac, isn't it?

Paradox Al said...

I guess that the "two state" solution is the only fair one we have right now, isn't it? I just feel so bad for them. I can almost see myself someday telling my grandchildren about how the Palestinian people got wiped out from the earth.

Of course, the Arab princes are complete pricks. It probably goes without saying that you just can't rely on the Arab countries to do anything decent, or to offer any real help in the near future, but I feel like we should expect better from Israel.

Anyway, thanks for hearing out my rants sir. I really love reading your opinions. It feels good to discuss with people from other countries. After all, we are all helpless when it comes to the Middle East, aren't we?

Kal said...

We are helpless, my friend.

Oh and Debra, they won't let me use RETARD anymore and how can you look at that picture of that asshole and not see someone who is not all there?

Lana Banana said...

where would an asshole outfit like that be without shoulder mops, hmmm?!?!

think about it.

They just need to work it out their own way. The Right here in the US, however, doesn't believe dark-skinned people who don't speak English can handle democracy - unless they achieve it with a super sized offer of Made in USA weaponry.

The image reminds me of a fake ad in a Playboy years ago starring a picture of Keith Richards to paraphrase: Sometimes ruling a country with an iron fist doesn't kill you; sometimes it makes you look like Muammar al-Gaddafi.

As in... Goober the Fraggle? No, wait, that's Boober. They do both have the hat-in-eyes thing going for them, though... I wonder if Gaddafi also enjoys cleaning socks..?

Kal said...

I love how you even know what a FRAGGLE is CC. I suspect all Gaddafi does with his socks is put on elaborate puppet shows.

If you were to show this photo out of context, to people who have no knowledge of him, they would think it's a still from a Mel Brooks movie!
