What A Wonderful Dream This Is

Help Nathan Buy Firefly

On Feb 17, 2011, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nathan Fillion said: “If I got $300 million from the California Lottery, the first thing I would do is buy the rights to Firefly, make it on my own, and distribute it on the Internet.”

The Plan:

Phase 1) Generate momentum. We’re going to setup a way people can pledge funding towards the mission of putting the rights to Firefly back into the hands of people who care about it. Since Nathan said he’d be game to be those hands, we’re going to watch for …

Phase 2) Nathan chimes in towards us and approves the effort. At that point, it’s a real mission and we’ll switch into…

Phase 3) We’ll setup a way for the funding to be collected into a Non-Profit Organization. We’ll then want everyone to make good on their pledge and contribute.

Throughout all of this, we’ll have up the running tally of pledges and actuals.

I love Firefly. We bought the set. I'd like to help Nathan Fillion out, since he is the hottest thing since Daniel Craig, but I'm too busy eating and paying rent.

A noble endeavor. I hope it pans out.

Well, I have liked the page but alas, cannot donate. BUT, I love this idea. Nathan is awesome. Funnily enough, I just started watching season 1 of Castle last night, too.

Still don't know how I feel about Castle, however. I did find out that Stana Katic, who plays Beckett, is also a Canadian. That is awesome, too!

Hmmm...I've never watched Firefly but most geeks agree it's worth it (I'll get there soon!)

So I would be down to help the cause! But maybe I have to watch it first or risk being called a poser.

OMG Sarah. You can't REALLY call yourself a geek until you watch 'Firefly' and the movie 'Serenity' which is a great movie. It's a love letter to the fans of this show.

I only saw it last year - its only 14 episodes but it will break your heart. It's just that good. I advise you to ration the episodes because when they are gone, they are gone.

When you are hubby are recouperating it would be a great show to share. He will love it too.

But be careful. It will change your life.

Coyote: Give Castle a few episodes. It took a bit before it started to get its tone down right. They ironed out the kinks in Season One (which was a short season, as it was a mid-year trial for the show), and with Season Two the show was off to the races.

I'm sorry, but isn't that spaceship actually a giant jet powered schlong?

It's a HORSEY. Why won't anyone agree with me that it is a HORSEY??

I am on episode 9 of season 1. It's good, but not as great as everyone says it is. But I'm going to definitely persevere and I'm downloading season 2 now!

Incidentally, Kal, have you been watching Chicago Code? WOW. I'm impressed. It's really good.

'Castle' does get better. Even though Stana Katic as a the prettiest TV detective ever was very distracting and unrealistic at first. But then nothing about 'Castle' was meant to be realistic and once I got my mind around then I enjoyed the show so much more.

I am currently downloading episode 3 of the 'Chicago Code'. I like Jennifer Beals. She is tough and the narration about the characters is also fresh. It's gritty enough to make it enjoyable. Like Detroit 1-8-7 it really shows up that city is all it's beauty and ugliness. I just wish it was on cable so the swear words could fly. I have a feeling that everyone wants to use the 'F' word but can't. I also like Delroy Lindo as the corrupt alderman very much. I am watching as long as the quality is there.

I like that it's not the typical police procedural, which I am becoming kind of sick of, esp. after watching the awesomeness that is Cold Squad. I like the fact that Chicago Code is more about the corruption and politics and one-upmanship than the usual police shows. It's way ballsier. I also like the grit, though Cold Squad still wins in the grit category. I wish they could swear, too!

The writing on 'Chicago Code' is good too. The way they saddled Jennifer with the death of her driver who she literally saved from the streets is very heartbreaking and another level of burden on someone who is trying to do good, but is always tempted to take the easy corrupt way to get things done. You can see how hard it is to remain a 'good' cop.

Wandering Coyote said...

Yeah, the writing is excellent, I agree. I'm definitely hooked!

During the recuperation time I plan on watching all kinds of shows that are required for a true geek Masters degree..and then I'll come back geekier than ever!

Kal said...

Aside from 'Firefly', what else do you have on your list, Sarah?

Is it just me or does that ship look like a wife's best friend?

IT'S A HORSEY!!! Sorry to yell at you. Then again I hear that women can become attractive to the equines.
