Movies I Am Looking Foward To - The A Team

A friend of mine brought over lunch today and we got to talking about movies - mostly our most anticipated films of this year. I went with 'Sherlock Holmes' and 'Iron Man 2' with Robert Downey Jr and she was all raving about the 'A Team' with Liam Neesom as Hannibal and Bradley Cooper as Face. Those are both excellent casting choices. Neesom has that leadership gravitas that is believable (I can almost hear him saying, "I love it when a plan comes together") and Cooper is the pretty boy of the moment and you need that kind of look for Face. His smile alone makes women wet so, again, a great choice. I have a soft spot for the original TV show. Like a live action cartoon it was one of those shows that my Dad and I never missed an episode of. Before Mythbusters where was the A Team creating wacky machines to get themselves out of the 'jam of the week'. The best one ever was the tank that shot muffins that they used to help a senior citizen's home from a crocked developer's wrecking ball. Every episode had cars flipping on their tops (just like they would do in real life) and of course no one ever got killed or injured. I hope the movie ramps up the number of cars that flip just to give a wink to long time fans of the show. Now they still haven't cast the roles of B.A. (of course played by the iconic Mr T) or Mad Dog. She and I were throwing out some names and I wanted to see if my fellow bloggers had any opinions of the subject. Now for me I want/need my big screen B.A. to be a larger than life figure. One who stands out from a crowd as Mr T did and who also would scare the crap out of anyone he scowled at. For my money you need to caste Mike Tyson or Kimbo Slice. Now hold on a minute. I can hear you all screaming at me but let me make my case. Yes, Tyson is batshit crazy but he IS a presence. With that face tattoo he definitely stands out (like Mr T) and with the right director's guidance and working with some other fine actors like Neesom and Cooper he could be the surprise breakout star of the year. The inclusion of him in the film would generate amazing pre-movie buzz and rehabilitate his career. The kids would also adore him and if you cared to admit it so would all of you. For me, Mike was always more of a tragic figure and not entirely responsible for how his life turned out. He never had the guidance or love from people who didn't want to exploit his fighting talent. Once he was no longer able to make him money he was discarded to deal with his issues on his own. With very little education or ability to rein in the worst of his excesses he couldn't help but fail. In a way his failure (just like Michael Jackson's failure) is somewhat the fault of all of us. We built him up to a point where he could only crash to the ground. Now, will any studio listen to me and take this casting advice? Probably not. But if they want to take a risk that I know will reap huge rewards then they should. Add a Jim Carrey and his over the top antics he would bring to the role of Mad Dog and you got yourself a winner here. Casting that many stars requires a movie that lets all of their personalities shine through and the movie I suggested would never suffer from a lack of that.

Look at this pic. He played guitar for the Runaways, who would have been nothing without his funky guitar licks. Of course you will never see those bitches admit to it.

I don't even know who Bradley Cooper is!

BA would be the toughest one to cast for sure...Mike Tyson, though...Perhaps...

I'd have to think about this.

I like Neeson as Hannibal, though.

Jim Carrey was the first to come to my mind for Howlin' Mad Murdoch too. I can see Michael Clark Duncan or Ving Rhames as B.A.

I like your Micheal Clark Duncan idea. He can play tough creampuff better than anyone and you B.A. has to be tough on the outside and mushy on the inside.

for the last couple of years, everything I have read about this movie has said Ice Cube was going to play B.A.
