The Carnivale Of Venice 2010

This is a costume designer's dream festival. Every year Venice has a Carnival where flamboyant costumes and, coolest of all, - MASKS - play a central role. I imagined these as a group of flashy Superheroes and Supervillains who battle not for world domination but to see who is the most FABULOUS. Follow the link to see and read more.

Masks like this freak me out, but I love them all the same. That last one is incredible.

Venice doesn't need a carnival to be wonderful, but it makes the city even more exotic. We were lucky enough to catch the end of carnival back in '96, while visiting cousins I have in Italy. Venice is someplace you need to visit at least once, if possible.
Cal, me thinks you would fall in love with it.
