Two From Tumblr - Great Design

Boris Arzybasheff, “Avco Corporation Ad” - Arzybasheff is one of my favorite industrial artists. Born in the Ukraine he came to America with only 14 cents in his pockets. His art often reflected the harsh regimes his family had been forced to live under in the early part of the last century. He was both in love with the machine and feared how it ruled our daily lives.

Much of his work spoke to the plight of the common man in the industrial age but he also did interior art for novels, magazine ads and book covers.

His work can best be described as 'anthropomorphic surrealism'.
