Charlotte Rampling Cast as DUNE’s Reverend Mother Mohiam

Charlotte Rampling (45 Years) has joined the cast of Legendary’s Dune adaptation. Rampling will portray Reverend Mother Mohaim, the emperor’s truthsayer.

Rampling joins the previously cast Timothée Chalamet (Paul Atreides), Rebecca Ferguson (Lady Jessica), Dave Bautista (”Beast” Rabban), and Stellan Skarsgård (Baron Harkonnen). Denis Villeneuve is directing.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.

In the world of Dune, there are many factions all vying for control of the Spice. The Bene Gesserit sisterhood is one of these factions. They are a religious group of women who use the Spice to develop superhuman powers and see beyond reality. Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) is also a member of the sisterhood.

Mohiam takes an interest in Jessica’s son Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet). In an iconic scene from the book, Mohiam takes it upon herself to test Paul to determine if he is the Kwisatz Haderach. His mother’s teachings and his knowledge of worldly things impress the Reverend mother enough for her to consider him a potential messiah.

The Reverend Mother also works closely with the Emperor Shaddam IV as his truth-sayer. He often uses her when speaking to leaders of other factions. They have similar interests and yet do not trust one another.

I imagined Nick Offerman (not Ron Swanson) as Gurney.

Really looking forward to this, thank you for turning me on to this world.
