Golden Boy
We are all mighty proud of local boy Alexandre Bilodeau. Wins the first gold medal EVER for Canada at one of our Olympic Games. You have no idea how huge this is for us. To advance as a nation we NEEDED that monkey off our backs. He is the best of us. Humble and caring, he crushed a very grumpy and arrogant Dale Begg-Smith from Australia to become immortal.
"Canada’s CTV television had been counting the days — 12,257 had gone by since the Olympic cauldron was lit in Montreal without a home gold, said a commentator. But a third cauldron could now have been lit on top of the two ignited in Friday’s opening ceremony."
In a nation where 'heroes' are few and far between, he is an inspiration. If you know the story of him and his disabled older brother you would cry. He IS the real deal and someone who will motivate millions to achieve their dreams. That is what a hero does.
I just watched his Gold medal ceremony and I wept. He has a free pass across this nation and especially at the Cave of Cool. And just so you know. We DON'T build up our heroes only to bring them down. Slow and steady Alexandre. You rocked a nation and the world. Good on ya mate!

Oh really?
Then what about Nickelback?
(ducks and runs away)
There may have been a tear in the corner of my eye when he won.
