I love the fact that he 'gets' it. He understands his pain but he can't do anything to change it. Some people think he grew up to be a serial killer but that isn't the case. He knows that shooting at people from a water tower will change NOTHING about his life. He's doomed no matter what he does. And he's comfortable with that.

I imagine that when he grew up Charlie Brown probably moved to some Northern location, grew some impressive facial hair and spends all day blogging.
