The Fifth Of November

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli’ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England’s overthrow;
By God’s providence he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holla boys, Holla boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
And what should we do with him? Burn him!

Remembering a guy who failed to blow up the Queen with barrels of gunpowder? Now that is an epic fail I can celebrate. I wonder if we would remember him to this day if he had been successful?

Either way, today is the day when I watch 'V for Vendetta'. I like V. He is a terrorist but one with flair and style. His final 'dance with death' is epic. I think this movie is even better than the graphic novel by Alan Moore. I know to say that is heresy but November 5th is all about being a revolutionary.

I agree. The film is absolutely amazing. The changes they made from the graphic novel make it a better story as well, although the original comic is cool too.

My movie for the day today is Memphis Belle, but only because it's Friday and my class went to the Warplane Heritage Museum and I think it's a great follow-up to that, as well as a lead in to Remembrance Day.

Have a great day Cal!

Thanks Chase. Everytime I hear from you I get reminded of what I miss not being in the classroom.

Mephis Belle is a great movie too. Edge of your seat adventure and a true story to boot and one that they might never choose to watch themselves.

Thanks for reminding me Cal. I always forget. I love the movie too, and it has nothing to do with the super beautiful and amazingly talented Natalie Portman. Nothing at all.

Really.

Now I'm going to have to watch this when I get home tonight...but I don't mind. Between this & Equilibrium, they are my favorite "overthrow the gov't" movies.

Have a great weekend Cal!

Thanks for the reminder (K)Cal, I really like that movie. Maybe the finale is a little too much, but I agree: It's better than the comic.
