So THIS Is The Kind Of Show SYFY Would Rather Make Than 'Stargate Universe'?

I thought I saw this show before when it was called 'Mutant X'. I guess I shouldn't automatically hate something just because SYFY made it but I am done with that channel. What I see in this trailer does nothing to change my mind.

I have no idea if 'Warehouse 13' is coming back or is gone for good and that is the last time that I was entertained by any original programming SYFY produced. Their monster movies were once fun but have since devolved into crap. Once you have mutated all the dangerous animal species you can think of their are few place left to go.

Plus, when you can't put enough effort into something like 'Sharktopus' to even make it watchable, then it's time for me to say my goodbyes.

July 11th. Also of note H.G.Wells is going to have a steampunk type spin off. So love/hate for sure but syfi is the best hope for series tv.

Damn them. I would enjoy a steampunk series right about now. But how can I ever let them break my heart again?

Effing SyFy. Like Fox, they wouldn't know a good show if it came & bit them in the ass. The cancellation of SGU was just criminal - not as criminal as how they ended BSG - but up there for sure. I'm so annoyed.

I think the fun niest part is when they call it an "all-new, original series". That cracks me up.

The real crime is that somehow they've wrangled an otherwise fabulous award winning actor, David Straithairn (Goog Night and Good Luck) into this mess.

We loved Warehouse13. I hope it is coming back too.

Warehouse 13 is just the kind of program that I like. A great cast (especially CC Pounder as the authoratative and mysterious Mrs Federicks) and a situation full of possibilities. I love how there is so much rich backstory that is only slowly being revealed as we go. Like 'Fringe' I was so afraid to fall in love with Warehouse 13 because it's the exact show that gets the screwgie put to it long before all it's stories are told.

MD, I think you nailed it with your observation about 'Alphas' and the fact that David Straithairn was connected to this project. I wonder what was it that made me instantly take a dislike to this program just on seeing the trailer.

It seems like here is a case where they are polishing a turd by casting such a quality guy as Strathairn and I hate to see him go that way.

Hm. Kinda looks like X-Men meets CSI.

The only thing that rubs me the wrong way is the "mind control girl talks her way out of a parking ticket" bit. It was a tired old setup when they did it on "Heroes", and seems like a bit of unimaginative "wish fulfillment" role on the part of the writers.

I haven't followed the SyFy channel in a long time, but my brother is a big B-Movie connoisseur and he was watching "Sharktopus" the other day. I stuck around to kill time, and seeing only the first ten minutes reminded me of just how much I miss the original SciFi Channel's run of "Mystery Science Theater 3000".

Oh, incidently Cal, SciFi did have a steampunk series back in 2000 called "The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne".

I haven't actually seen a full episode (yet) so I can't speak of its quality, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention it and include this link to the pilot episode (guest starring Star Trek's David Warner!)
