Again, I ask you...where is THIS show in my life? Two great things that go great together. I figure Spock would take on a lot of the blame for his bad calculations that allowed the moon to be shot off into space in the first place. Kirk would be more pragmatice about the situation though. Once he worked his way through all the women at Moon Base Alpha, he would need to be actively seeking out some of that alien sweet. Of course he would justify by saying that it is in the crew's best interest to make helpful friends along the way.
