I Feel I Have To Explain Myself

It has been great to have many new followers this week. Being a part of Alex J. Cavanaugh's Top Ten Music Blogfest has brought me attention from a whole new set of people with fascinating blogs of their own. I fully expect to be over 300 followers by the weekend (an amazing number that I never thought I would reach when I first started).

This surge has made me manically prolific tonight. I think the medication I got today has something to do with that. I feel like my mind is racing.

So here is the question. Most of you have heard this before but is it TOO much. Am I overloading your dashboards so much that you are forced to unfollow me to be able to see others who have put up fresh posts?

Am I overwhelming you?

I could limit myself to ten posts a day but most of these things are done in under a minute. The longer posts like my Oscar commentary take longer of course. That post this morning took about two hours. I am thinking about submitting it to some online entertainment sites or magazines? Any ideas on that? Should I even do so?

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to answer my questions. You are my board of advisers and you only make my modest little effort stronger with your support. I value all you contributions as usual.

My unlimited love to you all.

Kal

Kal,
It is a lot. I don't know how you do it. But if it works for you, it works for me, babe. By that I mean, if you are fine with my not being able to read and comment on all of your posts, I am fine with you cranking them out like Speed Racer on crack.

That is a great comment. I have never heard it explained better. Can you imagine if I WAS on crack? I would just burst into flames the second after my fingers hit the keyboard.

You do often fill the dashboard- i won't lie. But some of your short ones can be fun. Often, my entries at The Super-DuperToyBox can take one to two hours or more to organize, so i just wouldn't have enough time with photo editing, the simultaneous research going on, and slow typing skills to post more than once a day. You obviously have a very fertile mind/imagination- perhaps a bit compulsive even, where you react immediately as things grab your attention- things that interest me at least one a day, sometimes more. Conversely, I tend to stop and examine one thing in hard detail until I've "conquered" the post. Being a different person, this is how I have to do things: I must focus that concentration, and it takes me awhile to process & convey what I'm observing.

You do post a load of things everyday. Like I've said before, I simply don't have time to comment on everything, but I would NEVER tell you, or ask you to slow down. I love your blog, and there is always something here I like! My only problem is if I'm away for a few days, I have to hire on kelly girls to catch up here for me. Those babes are expensive...

I am fascinated by the creative process. How people create their own stuff and view the stuff of others. I would never expect anyone to comment on everything. That is insane. I do think though if I cut my posts numbers in half then people would enjoy my stuff twice as much. I have to learn not to react to EVERYTHING I see. It's like having no unexpressed thought in my head. Tumblr is bad for that. So many images that need to be commented on by me or transferred over to my blog before the thought (which to me are ALL brillian and in truth may NOT be) leaves my hummingbird like brain. I just want to reach 500 posts for this month then I will put some limits next month. Might just created and not post and let them percolate for a day before I permanently add them. I think I have to learn to just let somethings go. But then again I feel this need to share all the cool things I find in my travels. It's an embarassment of riches. I do enjoy this mental excercise though. Shake things up. Keep things fresh. I have alot of new fans since people have been checking out my top ten song post. So I want to keep the newbies but give something back to my old time cherished followers. See even that explanation was overly verbose.

I skim through my Reader and read what I find interesting or what seems intriguing. Can't read EVERY post everyone does, anyway, so don't worry. Do what you want and people will find it.

I think since joining Alex J's ABC blog event in April, I am going to do ONE post a day during that month. I will kill me. Okay FIVE a day, yes FIVE a day. It's suppose to encourage people to stick to a daily blogging schedule but with me it will be for the opposite reason. Maybe I don't need to express every single thought I have in the day.

Make use of Tumblr for some posts, maybe, the picture ones at least.

Dashboard be damned, Cal. I feel SO guilty for not following you now, especially since you were kind enough to say nice things about me, AND you went and followed my dumb blog. Well played, sir. ;)

QUIT second-guessing yourself! I know "public opinion" matters to you, but part of being COOL is NOT swaying to public opinion. POST MORE! MORE CATS! MORE SELENA GOMEZ! WHATEVER YOU WANT! We'll be here enjoying it all with you.

Here's to the 300! And if you get that reference, then you are MY people too. :)

"Go tell the Spartans, stranger passing by, that here, obedient to their laws, we lie."

Levi, your blog is not dumb. You have a vision and I totally repect a vision. And I have your Smarties whenever you want to do that 'Cave of Cool' illustration for me.

I do worry about blowing up people's dashboards and I do see that as a totally legit reason not to follow. That is totally on me and not anyone else.

Don't give me MORE guilt than I already feel. You think Jewish guilt is something? Try lapsed Catholic guilt for a spell.

"Ooh, look at me, I'm so prolific I'm overloading everybody's dashboard and I'm feeling bad about overwhelming everybody! Oh what do I do? Should I cut back on my brilliance? Oh,what do I do?"

Shine on you crazy monkey, that's what you do. Do what you have to do and don't feel bad. You got in in you to do twelve posts a day, then do it and stop whinging about it.

I've made a resolution to do at least one post a day and I'm finding it to keep it up. If you can pound out posts like you're The Flash on speed, then do it and don't let anyone tell you different!

I say it's your blog, do whatever you want. I'm a fast reader....and a lot of your posts only require me to scroll down while looking, so it's not that big of a deal to me. I may not comment all the time, but that's understandable to everyone I think. :)

You'll go crazy if you try to make everyone happy & become followers who comes to your site. Like you advised to me, do what you like to do and find your groove that way.

You've got some really loyal followers & commenters so you're obviously doing something right! Don't slow down unless YOU want to.

I wonder where you find time to post so much. I confess that I only read a few of your posts, the ones with nice pictures or themes that I'm familiar with (I hardly miss your Meows mixes).
I say: do what most pleases you, we people read you by choice and I would be disappointed if your editorial line changed because you took advice from someone outside the Cave of Cool.
Best regards from the subtropical regions of Mexico.
P.S. started reading Red Son yesterday. So far, so good.

OUCH MD. That Ricky immitation hit me where I live. Did you dance around when doing the imitation. You outed me. I am not the simple man you took me for. I am complex and have been right and properly chastised.

DI - The fact that you are reading Red Son make my day. I hope I did oversell it to you.

Your content is overwhelming and intimidating but that's what keeps me coming back. Again and again. I never know what's going to be here.
