Wizard Magazine Officially Dead
I am happy to see it go rather to continue on as the pathetic excuse for the magazine it used to be. There was a time when it was my go-to publication for comic news. Sure they tended to favor certain writers and artists more than others but they did a real service to the comic community.
There was nothing like that out there at the time and I am a little sad to see it go. Only Marvel puts out it's own preview magazine highlighting upcoming titles and special issues. 'Image', 'DC', and 'Dark Horse' should do the same. This information was the best part of 'Wizard'. Even small publications could get their titles noticed by an appearance in the magazine.
'Wizard' approached the comic collecting hobby with respect and humor. If they had more of an online presence or more support from the major comic publishers they may have been able to weather the storm but like many newspapers and magazines, they couldn't adapt to the changes happening to the printed word these days.
Out of 'Wizard' grew 'Toyfare' which for now is still being published. Wizard did great toy coverage at one time and there is a place for such a magazine on the stands. I fear, however, that it will not be long before all my information of action figure collecting will have to come from online vendors. No more 'Wizard' or 'Toyfare' exclusives.

it is mixed feeling news. I hate to see them go, but love to watch them walk away.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
I stopped buying the magazine years ago, i'm surprised it was still being published. Thanks Wizard for the early years when you meant something and were fun.
I too have been away from it for years. The price didn't equal the content towards the later years.
It used to be something I liked and looked forward to each month. Ah well... Thanks for the memories.
Seems like we all walked away at the same time and lament the past.
