We Could Stay There And See How It Ends

Commander May posted this new video on his blog and I really am diggin it. He and I share many many musical touchstones. I realize I am totally out of it with anything really off the mainstream top 40 for the past decade and there was a time when I knew or had heard most everything that caught my ear. I guess we all past that age in our life and our musical tastes get stuck in a certain moment in time. Memory needs a soundtrack after all. I should try to do a meme this week of the top fifty in my soundtrack and include the videos but if Samurai Frog has anything to say about the issue its gonna be a tough task. He has been listing his top 500 and that amount barely scratches the surface for anyone who ever loved music I suspect. This video is from A-Ha whose album 'Hunting High and Low' easily makes my top ten. Who knew they were still making new music? That falsetto cry of the lead singer still gives me goosebumps.

Keep your clever lines
Hold your easy rhymes
Silence everything
Silence always wins
It’s your perfect alibi
There’s no need to analyze
It will be all right
Through the longest night
Just silence everything

But we could live by the foot of the mountain
We could clear us a yard in the back
Build a home by the foot of the mountain
We could stay there and never come back

Learn from my mistake
Leave what others take
Speak when spoken to
And do what others do
Silence always wins
So silence everything
It will be all right
In the morning light
Just silence everything

But we could live by the foot of the mountain
We could clear us a yard in the back
Build a home by the foot of the mountain
We could stay there and never come back
We could stay there and never come back

We could live together

But we could live by the foot of the mountain
We could make us a white picket fence
Build a home by the foot of the mountain
we could stay there and see how it ends
We could stay there and see how it ends

Man, I have never seen/heard this one before.

I used to love A-ha & think the singer was the hottest thing on two feet.

How times have changed.

Still, their music rocks. The Sun Always Shines on TV is my fave, and has some really great lyrics in it that are meaningful to me.
